I dunno if it depends on your scanner much, but we use an Epson Stylus and scan with a higher DPI. (400) for our comic pages and (450+) for anything else. Then we touch it up a bit on photoshop for any ugly marks (smudges or random specs from the scanner). Remember to heighten the brightness/contrast for that cleaner crisp look and to get rid of most of that washed out look as scanners tend to eat the colours from traditional work.
